MLSE™ technology background timeline
MTIX’s technical textile revolution’s origins are rooted in 85 years of engineering and scientific discovery and development. The MTIX technical team has compiled hundreds of patents worldwide. All of our innovations have paved the way to environmentally improved processes eliminating toxic process constituents and by-products while enabling improved cost effective, time, energy and water conservation. Many of the inventions enabled the realization of otherwise impossible achievements.
1933 – patented analog forerunner to computer control of machine tools, the tracer enabled automatic reproduction of complex shapes such as; bottle molds, propeller blades, turbines, and automotive body dies.
1940’s – development of tracer controlled machine tools for automotive and aerospace tools and components.
1950’s – development of computer numerically controlled machine tools for production of aerospace components.
1960’s – 1st computer numerically controlled machine tool systems in the automotive industry – General Motors Wankel engine
1970’s – development of ultra high-speed special machines producing and enabling the tomahawk cruise missile and the space shuttle silicon tile thermal
1980’s – development of ultra high-speed machining systems that eliminated carcinogenic coolants used for machining of aluminum, enabling environmentally clean recycling of aluminum from chips to ingots- premier installation of magnetic bearing machining spindles and… Linear motor servo driven machine tools – Boeing and general motors. Invention of the thriller, a combined drilling and threading tool – premier application of lasers in the aircraft industry machining, cutting and drilling millions of holes per minute.
1990’s – invention and development of mlse™ for direct material synthesis of diamond on metals using mixed wavelength lasers, revolutionizing material synthesis technology. Applications to cutting tools, ink jet printer pens, golf clubs, prosthetics, ophthalmological surgical instruments, cookware, plastic components, automotive powertrain components.
2000’s – textiles
